ARMOVEX BCX is a single-component, water-based hybrid base coat engineered for strength, coverage and versatility. As the foundation of the ARMOVEX coating system, BCX delivers excellent film build, strong adhesion and consistent color holdout. It is available clear or pigmented and is ideal for solid-color floors, decorative flake systems and broadcast media installations.

BCX penetrates the upper pore structure of cementitious and porous materials, forming a hydrophobic network that limits moisture absorption and surface contamination, while its film resists abrasion, staining and chemical exposure. It is full self-leveling, flowing out into a smooth, even film, and its controlled working time allows for uniform application. BCX is UV-stable and non-yellowing, with resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, fuels and oils. No Part A/Part B mixing, no pot life.

Surface Prep

1. Clean the concrete thoroughly to remove dirt, oil, grease and contamination. Use a concrete degreaser on heavily soiled areas.
2. Make sure the surface is sound and free of sealers, curing compounds, laitance and other bond-inhibiting contaminants.
3. Let the slab dry completely (24 hours recommended after washing).
4. For moisture-prone or contaminated slabs, apply ARMOVEX DryLock first.
5. Prime with ARMOVEX FSX Primer.
6. Apply when the substrate is at least 5°F (3°C) above the dew point. Avoid rain, high humidity, standing water or condensation.

Application

1. Mask or protect adjacent areas. Test in a discrete area first.
2. If pigmenting, add approved pigment and mix at low speed for 3–5 minutes until uniform. If clear, stir at low speed for 3–5 minutes. Do not shake.
3. Strain BCX into the sprayer through a paint strainer or cheesecloth.
4. Apply with an airless or tank-type sprayer, uniformly wetting the surface without puddling. Microfiber pads, squeegees, trowels and back-rolling are also approved.
5. For a flake floor, broadcast flake, quartz or sand into the wet coat. Let dry 10–30 minutes or until dry to the touch, then scrape and vacuum loose material.
6. Seal with ARMOVEX TCX Top Coat.
7. Clean tools and sprayers immediately with warm, clean water.

Where It Fits in the Armovex System

The Armovex floor system is single-component from start to finish: FSX Primer → BCX Base Coat (clear or pigmented, with optional flake broadcast) → TCX Top Coat. On slabs with moisture or contamination concerns, start with ARMOVEX DryLock. No grinding of properly cleaned concrete and no A/B mixing.

Is BCX clear or colored?

Both. BCX is available clear or pigmented.

How far does a gallon go?

BCX covers 150–300 sq ft per gallon depending on surface porosity, finish and film thickness.

When can I walk or drive on it?

Light foot traffic in 4–6 hours; heavy or vehicle traffic in 24–72 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.

Is it an epoxy alternative?

Yes. BCX is a single-component, water-based hybrid with no A/B mixing, no pot life and Zero VOC, designed to replace multi-part epoxy base coats in the Armovex system.

Does it self-level?

Yes. BCX is full self-leveling and flows out into a smooth, even film.

Do I need a top coat?

Yes. In the Armovex system, BCX is sealed with ARMOVEX TCX Top Coat.
