Run your test in an afternoon
1 · Prep
Pick a clean, dry section — ideally one that shows real wear. Apply at 40°F or above, with no rain expected for 2–4 hours.
2 · Apply
One single coat at rated coverage. No primer, no mixing. Dry to the touch in about an hour; foot-traffic OK once dry.
3 · Inspect at 24 hrs
After full cure, check your section against the untreated roof around it. Here's what to look for ↓
Judge it on these five things
- ✓ Granule lock — rub the treated shingles. Loose granules should be bound down, not shedding.
- ✓ Adhesion — the film bonds tight to the shingle. No lifting, peeling, or delamination at the edges.
- ✓ Seamless film — one continuous water-resistant barrier across the section, with no gaps or pinholing.
- ✓ Flexibility — the cured film flexes with the shingle instead of cracking. That's the 250% elongation working.
- ✓ Breathability — HRX is vapor permeable (15 perms), so the roof breathes; no trapped moisture blistering later.
